Safe Summer Kick Off set for Saturday in Silverthorne

The 11th Annual Safe Summer Kick Off is Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Silverthorne Elementary.

This is a great way to kick off the summer! There will be free giveaways of safety equipment, fingerprinting for children, helmet decorating, music and fun activities and a chance to take a tour of emergency service vehicles. There will be a car seat inspection area to check for proper fit and safety by certified technicians. With a donation, new car seats will be available.

To enter the essay contest for the bike giveaway, children need to complete an essay which they can get at the Silverthorne Police Department or www.silver

thorne.org. Completed essays may be dropped off at the police department during business hours by Friday, or at the event. The essay will be the child's entry ticket for the raffles. Bikes will be raffled off throughout the day of the event. The earlier children turn in essays, the more chances they have to win. If anyone has questions or would like to make a donation, they can contact the Silverthorne PD at (970) 262-7320.
